Homemaker, cook, and party planner
I’m a small business owner, wife, and mom to two preschool-aged children. I’ve always loved things done as well as possible, a meal or party for example. I don’t want to make any old appetizers, I want mine to be beautiful (and delicious of course).
I like to make holidays extra special with the decorations, themed food, table settings, etc. I painstakingly research all the details and options when planning a trip.
My Princess Party Business
In 2012 I was one year into dating my now-husband. I was just finishing up college and had moved back to Rhode Island from Orlando.
I took a detour in college and participated in the Disney College Program.
Twice.
I ended up staying for a while after my second program. Nearly a year into my long-distance relationship I decided it was time to move back to Rhode Island.
In May I was hired for my first big girl job. I was so excited to have a “real job” but I found myself bored despite working with lovely people.
By October I was thinking of opening a princess party business. My parents and boyfriend had suggested it, I had brushed it off. After a few hours of research, I was sold on giving it a go.
I had worked for a princess party company in another state previously. Again, with very lovely people, but the costumes were from a party store and were cheesy.
It just wasn’t how I pictured doing it, and that had been my hangup with starting a princess party business. Once I found a way to source beautiful theatrical-quality costumes I was in!
So, I ordered one costume to start with. Because I didn’t want to settle on the quality, I only could get one with the little bit of money I had saved.
A friend helped me make a website, I created a Facebook page, and I started obsessively doing research. Over the years Isabelle’s Princess Parties has done thousands of parties and events.
The business has evolved and changed, and so have I. One thing that has remained is that I want to do things “right.” I don’t mean there’s only one correct way, I mean I want to make experiences, food, entertaining, home, and parenting as magical as possible.
